Loneliness

Losing someone is never easy. To my beautiful Aunt Jacqueline, may you rest in peace.

I sit here watching everything that reminds me of you

crying from my soul

I sit here listening to your favorite songs

I want to scream at the top of my lungs

Death is not easy to befriend

Especially after it took you

and I wait bitterly in anticipation

for the day Death takes me too.

I watch the sky turn grey

I hear the house go silent

The sky mourns you too.

The garage still smells of cigarettes

and I find your lighters all around

your nail polishes are half empty

and your bed still made

your loofahs in the shower

remained untouched

and I wish you knew

how we all miss you so much.

So while I pray for this pain to end

while I still grieve

please send me signs

you're still with me.

There's an aching loneliness

in the pit of my heart

where you brought so much joy

then Death ripped it apart.
