Plea for freedom

Are you okay? What’s wrong?

I laid there. Frozen. Numb. Incapacitated.

Curled into a fetal position.

Arm clasped tightly around myself.

Please, please say something

I can’t, I can’t tell you.

I can’t form the words.

I can’t make my mouth move.

He laid his head there, against my back.

My eyes staring dead ahead.

Glazed over. Fixated on nothing.

I could feel my heartbeat slowly.

He shifted his body to hold mine closer.

I held my breath.

My heart seemed to slow.

I released slowly.

Babe, please. Please please.

Talk to me…

I wish I could. Trust me.

But my body is shut down.

Incapacitated. Frozen.

What’s bothering you?

How can I help?

But you can’t help this.

I’m locked in.

Locked in by my own mind.

Please. I love you.
