Lockdown

Poem

By Emilia JaarPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Throw vegetables at me

like they did to Stravinsky

Listen to the dog in Fiona Apple’s newest song

Be careful

Look for an identity

First it was Berlin

then Canada

then Budapest

Frontiers work when they want to

They build walls and

we eat them

The first time we talked it was dark and tight

and that kitchen is now

in ruins

Three rooms like mine have become

only one

A happy rich family must be laughing

at my clothes

that I left there

They didn’t fit you

I didn’t sell them

2022 seems so far away but we

could still be here

locked

separated

insisting on

listening

to new music

surreal poetry
