Living in a World We Can't Afford
A Type of Spoken Poem

Living in a world we can't afford
Year round struggling to make ends meet
So limited as we reach
to be more
We try and we try
Cutting out desires here and there
Just to keep
the minimum bare
We have goals
Dreams
That we must put on hold
All so we can just survive
And not die
Our arms stretched to the stars
In a pitch black night
Begging
Pleading
For some light
Any amount to shine
Giving us hope
Security
Any kind of rope
In which we can grasp for
And call our own
