My soul is on fire,
And I lit the match.
After years of repressing,
And faking class.
I took at the pages of my heart,
And splashed on the gasoline.
Uses the words swirling in my brain,
To try and start the spark.
But found that all the rage,
And heartbreak couldn’t produce a thing.
It was too cold and bitter,
To harbour any warmth.
And I though I should be better,
And look for some way to restart.
So I searched deep in my bones for a sliver.
A piece that of me I could use.
To light up the flames,
Of my poor tired body.
And rebirth myself,
Like a phoenix from my ashes.
