“Listless”

By

K. R. King

I wish you could see what I see

From this dark hall, which is empty

I see me standing on the shore

And in the back of my own mind

The other me sits, weeping

I can see her, I can feel her

But she is buried beneath the sea

I am breathing with no pulse

I am seeing with no eyes

When they call, I am not there

And I am listlessly wavering to and fro’

Listless

Listless

Here, yet there

There, yet here

With, without

Somewhere, nowhere

A little south of sanity

A little east of serenity

Don’t stop calling

Don’t stop reaching

At a moment’s notice, I may return

Bringing with me many stories

Of places near and far away

In hopes that all I’ve lost, will be regained someday.
