A Poem

Slurred bedtime stories

Turn to sour goodnight kisses

Help me, help me

She cries out

But mama’s 5 in with 7 more to go

And daddy’s not home

Without him time seems to pass slow-

Lullabies are much sweeter laced with sugar

Than with poison

Help me, Help me

She cries out

But no one around seems to be listening

As the blood on the floor is glistening

Unconscious again a repetitive melody

To many it’d be sickening

Help me, Help me

She cries out

But mom’s chasing white rabbits

And dad’s has left

And sissy’s run away

And the home is burning down

Help me, Help me

She whispers

Because mommy’s not coherent

Daddy’s gone

Sissy’s battling robots in the stars

Everyone is missing

No one wonders what is wrong

When the record skips

When mommy slips

When she’s left crying inside

Help me, Help me

She thinks

No one knows her pain

Eating away like acid

She wears a grinning mask

So no one will ask

But inside

She still cries

Help me, help me.
