I’ve said your last week
was the most uncomfortable I’ve been
without having to hold my body closer
sometimes I wonder if ghosts watch us dress
and I wave my towel above my body
toward the heavens
not an act of surrender
– my towels are eggshell blue –
a final veil of safety against the unknown
never vulnerable even in my own bathroom,
my own quiet spaces
are not quiet
sometimes I wonder if human affects are limited
to the body
if your salvation is mine
all thoughts done away with in exchange for pure existence
watching over me unassuming, unwanting
quiet guidance
I say the comfort zone is where
dreams go to die
my ultimate dream is earthly comfort
welcoming the arms of my futures
