Like the sand through these hands of mine
One day there will be no more

⌛⏳⌛⏳
I’ve experienced the world
and been to many places
But the experiences are locked inside my mind.
Things that happened years ago
Are slowly losing their place.
More difficult to recall, steps that can't be traced
They leak out of this space I call my brain
Like the sand through these hands of mine.
⌛⏳⌛⏳
The memories are fading
Slowly drifting away
Some I am l glad to forget
Others, I wish I could hold on to.
But tell me, what good would that do?
Those moments passed a long time ago.
Things I should have hung onto, slipped away
Like the sand through these hands of mine.
⌛⏳⌛⏳
Where did the time go?
I surely do not know
Slipped away, day after day
The months turned into years.
A life that has less before me
Than the past I leave behind,
Full of pieces I let drift away
Like the sand through these hands of mine.
⌛⏳⌛⏳
I live in hope that there will be more days
But what for, I’m not really sure.
I always think there will be tomorrow
Another chance to live a bit more.
One last chance to tell those I love
I know I have not been perfect
Those opportunities will slip by,
Like the sand through these hands of mine.
⌛⏳⌛⏳
One day, there will be no more,
Like the sand through these hands of mine….
⌛⏳⌛⏳
Till next time,
Calvin
