Lighting Up December
Christmas Lights
On trees
and houses
and strung across streets
Glowing
twinkling
and warming
hearts
Dancing on wires
over heads
Winding through neighborhoods
and windows
and bookshelves
and mantle places
Haphazardly
falling
and dropping
through the tree branches
through the railings
through the stairwells
Giving chase
on snowflakes and rain drops
breezes and fallen leaves
waves and fog cover
Shining and dripping
warm caresses
and warm glances
Soaring
and sailing
in dizzying
mystifying numbers
lovely
and beautiful
Spinning
warm thoughts
and warm feelings
in softer souls
A simple little
sign
a show
That the world goes on
That good things
live on
and continue as we grow
That the good in the world
hasn’t faded
hasn’t disappeared
Little lights
rainbows glistening
with bright white strings
to remind us all
the holidays are here again
