Unbeknownst to the world I stand
my roots anchored rivetedly to the land
Impervious to the winds of demand
that it be requisite to understand
The verity of living it firsthand
submerged under a caliginous quicksand
as casting spells with a precarious wand
of a peculiar and outlandish brand
Catching glimpse of the drifting boat
wounded hands clenching tight onto the rope
Just grappling to stay afloat
looking to you in quest of hope
how I am abashed to gloat
how I let my fire stoke
To me only ever a light to dote
in a house where people lovingly spoke
About the Creator
Ashley Tong
If I were a painter, linguistics would be my palette, and poetry my favourite brush. If I were an artist, nature would be my muse, and music my companion, and I shall endeavour to depict life as I see it.
