There is a lasting echo

A resounding shatter rings

As firmaments long trusted

Splinter and sway in the wind

Ghostly prints burn acid

Into this weary skin

The road beneath is littered

With things that could have been

Inside there is a writhing

The surface; cold and still

An orchestra of chaos

Plays unfamiliar; shrill

All well-laid plans are ashes

Desires lay in their graves

I cast off this careful costume

And dive beneath the waves

And without form there’s freedom

No more need for us to fight

The stars; the only markers

Our bodies; only light..

And in this form forever

We burn into the night
