Light

The google definition

of light

follows: "the natural agent

that stimulates sight

and makes things

visible."

The reality

of our experience is encapsulated

in these words. But sometimes light

is not enough

to save us

from the darkness.

Our darkness.

My daughter said to me last night,

"Daddy you and mommy

have eachother blocked

one hundred times."

.

Obviously a huge number

to a five year old

little girl.

.

A sad number

in her mind,

as she asks me

once a week

if we can just

work

.

something out.

Possibly live together,

again.

He was the only one

at the end

of it all.

.

He was also there

at the beginning. Cigar

.

in hand usually one

I couldn't afford.

Maybe one he

couldn't afford?

.

I met him when I first

moved to Bend. Cigar

networking was a new

and novel

concept.

.

He was a part

of the enthusiasm

which made the concept

.

function, and lifted

a dream

off the ground.

.

A thought

which would turn

to vision

which would turn

to obsession.

.

A business,

radically authentic.

.

He was there at the end

when all things

burned fire

And the terror in my heart

turned to terror in true form,

.

and it felt like

flame had turned to ash.

.

Even still,

He wanted to work

.

the dream.

The Vision.

The obsession.

When the darkness comes

you become bound

to what you have left.

.

What you built

that mattered.

.

The small items

induring

the flames

.

burning around you.

.

The things which are real,

that persist beyond

the physics

.

of rules that can be

found

.

in a google search.

She was pretty. I liked her.

I did not know her well,

.

we met once

at a meeting

in a different life

that now feels very

far away.

.

We contacted eachother

because we knew

we had much in common

and she had an eye

for humans

who needed help.

.

She was a light,

in my darkness. A time

where everything had ended,

and there were no internal

beginnings to be found.

.

For me it was a date,

for her it was compassion,

.

and hope. She saw it

inside me. This and an ember

of something

which could be nurtured

.

into vision and ressurection.

.

To her, this project

was one she couldn't resist.

This however is not what light

means to me.

.

For me the concept

exists beyond

what can be googled

in a google search.

.

It is the external

energy

which rebirths people

who deserve second

chances

.

and resurrects

dying dreams that deserve

.

to be born again.
