I am a light
Brightly I awaken
Piercing through darkness
Electricity pulses through me
Buzzing like little flies
I am the man-made firefly
Though I am still
My warmth growing
I illuminate the world around me
You
A match strikes
Candles burning
You need me no longer
In a flash my light is gone
Energy evades me
Sleep
I enter a defenseless slumber
Set to wake when I'm needed
Stationary
I will be here
But I will burn out
And you will replace me
Though my light will fade
You will never be left in darkness
