Life's But A Game

And it's all in how you play it.

Into the deep go the intrepid ones alone

They dive into the abyss without a thought

Risking their safety to the very bone

They pray silently to never be forgot

The march to an entirely different drummer

In the light or the silent darkness of the night

From the fall to winter, spring and summer

They are always prepared when there's a fight

To dance with the flame in the heat of it all

Embracing their chance at each moment they see

They dance their way toward greatness, or a fall

No matter the glory or the pain that may be

Surrounding us in the crowd

They're silent and bright

Until it's time to get loud

Be it day or night

Carrying it like a curse

Something that none would pick up and run

Knowing it could lead to the bed with a nurse

Or something they're not there for and is a lot less fun

Oh, to live every moment as if it were the last

And grasp onto the threads swinging overhead

They're the first to realize life all goes by so fast

Even as they continue to hold onto that unraveling thread

Then comes the time when they need the strongest among us

They realize not all men are the same

But would still ride life on that same bus

Knowing that they at least played the game
