Lifeless Life

...

By Maryam BatoolPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

A place where fading memories float

A residence where I built my paper boat

Rooms where the kid in me was BRIGHT

Shouted into the pillow, when scared, would hide

The plant that I watered every day

The pots that I carved, made with clay

Curtains would make a path to the MOON

The windows reflected light, 'til it was noon

The sky from the yard would tell it's MINE

The stars at night would sing me a rhyme

The universe was happy, and so was I

Why didn't I know life ahead is a LIE?

Now,

All the colors have forgotten to light

World has turned into something black and white

I wish TIME hadn't learnt to run

I wish I'd never seen the morning sun

I wish I'd lived a little more SMALL

The darkness around me, I'm caged in a wall

Sometimes, all I want is a silent QUIT

A world where I don't have to admit

I grew up, and the child in me chose death

The kid in me died; Oh, she lost her breath

That place was my HOME, can't find it now

Was it really a place, or a feeling somehow?

I think I'll forget this WORLD and be gone

To a place that doesn't hurt, where it's all alone

I hate this HOLLOW WORLD and skies

It's full of deceit and full of lies!
