Life Taken, Not Deceased
Limbo a sure as hell lost place

Life Taken, Not Deceased
They unplugged me while I stood
breathing dust in a room that once knew me
a chair turned sideways, no one asked why
My shoes are still by the door
no one claimed them
they do not rot, they do not walk
I eat from shadows,
pressing my teeth on the shape of old spoons
half-remembered dinners,
nobody speaks of me now,
only to correct the spelling
I am not dead
they just stopped folding the clothes I wore
they stopped calling what I say a voice
Even my ghost is refused
sent back, marked wrong address
left upright in the rain
A child saw me once
pointed, then forgot
a bit of red string in her pocket
My name has edges
but no longer cuts
it floats in bins, typed out wrong
then deleted
Do you know how it feels
to exist without weight
to flicker when the fridge light hums
to be neither story nor silence
Not a passing
Not a staying
Life taken,
not deceased
Limbo is not life
not the fires of hell
It’s a warning
your neither up or down
in or out
Not quite yet alive,
however, no way am I dead
no one hears when I shout
left here hanging about.
