Life on the Darkest of Nights
sometimes inspiration has a wicked way of hitting you in the middle of the night.

I.
In the darkest of nights
when nothing stirs,
and the sound of silence
rules with a deafening roar,
the lights
on the suburban streets,
glow a soft orange.
II.
One man sees clarity,
from one of many homes
that line the barren street.
III.
Yes, in this time,
A man stares out the window
At the world that died
for the night.
His mind runs crazy,
screaming and hollering
and banging against the skull.
IV.
Within, a world of wonder
sprouts from deep corners
of his gray matter.
He sits alone,
Jotting these crazy thoughts
under a reading light attached
to a well-used notebook,
capturing the crazy world
that come forth.
V.
For that one moment,
he feels alive.
even as the world outside sleeps.
Nobody knows
in this land of sleep
that a world
rich and deep
has come to life
under ink and paper.
in the middle of the night.
