Life Finds a Way

A short poem

Is it predisposition?

Nurture?

Nature?

Life finds a way to continue on,

Generation after generation.

Difficult challenges can be daunting.

Most young don’t realize the sacrifices made

On their behalf

Until they make them themselves.

Yet make them, they will,

-because-

Life finds a way.

Author’s note: I took the above photo in Sedona, AZ, not far from my town.

“Century plants,” members of the agave family, live for 10-30 years. As a reproductive sacrifice, they spend their last energy on a final “death bloom,” creating a stock with seeds up to 30 feet in the air.

They then whither.
