Life Extinct
Now the rainbow has turned to liquid and poured into sea.
We all knew instantly there would be no tomorrow for us to see
God tried so hard to save us. It was all in vain
Inch by inch each breath was swallowed for all eternity
The oceans rose black beneath bleeding skies
Mountains stood silent like ghosts left to die
Birdsong had vanished from forests long dead
Ash drifted softly where children once tread
The rivers carried colours no human could name
Burning through valleys in poisonous flame
Cities collapsed underneath crimson rain
Nothing of beauty remained quite the same
People stood praying with nowhere to run
Watching the earth being devoured one by one
Church bells rang hollow through smoke-choking air
Still no salvation arrived anywhere
The stars disappeared from the heavens above
As though even darkness had finally had enough
Moonlight dissolved into violent grey streams
Leaving behind only fractured old dreams
Mothers held tightly the last of their own
Fathers fell silent like weathered old stone
No wealth or power could bargain with fate
Death waited patient at every gate
Then came the stillness too empty to fear
No cries remaining for anyone to hear
Only the sound of the dying black sea
Swallowing time through eternity
Life extinct whispered the end of it all
No angels descended, no great trumpet call
Just silence eternal where mankind had been
The earth closing slowly its tired eyes forever.
