Beyond this life, what lies in wait?
Do we ascend to pearly gates?
Or sink below to fiery fate?
What happens when we meet our date?
Some say we'll float in endless space,
A cosmic journey with no trace
Of earthly cares or human race,
A peaceful, solitary place.
Others believe in life anew,
Reborn with purpose, born anew,
A chance to make our dreams come true,
And start again, our slate brand new.
And still, some say there's nothing more,
When death comes knocking at our door,
We simply cease, forevermore,
And leave behind all that we bore.
Whatever waits beyond this life,
We cannot know until our strife
Is finished, and we leave this life,
To face the great unknown with might.
So let us live our lives with grace,
And make the most of every place,
For when we meet our final race,
We'll leave behind a lasting trace.

Beautiful, lovely words to ponder and encourage, I just did a similar peace, yours is lighter, mine is darker. Hope it will be published. Many people are asking these questions these days.
Lovable tears
Inspiring work as always! I love the flow and feel of this poem. It feels like an ancient poem that scholars might study in university. A very classic debate about life after death and the new journey!
Lovely ideas of transcendence in life and death
