last year around this time was the first time I lost someone

My father

Death complicated things

I just didn’t know how I felt about him

But when he died it was clear I loved him

Maybe I didn’t realize because I was angry with him for a while

But when I lost him

It was shocking, the thought of him dying never crossed my mind

I guess, I thought I had a lot of time with him

I cried myself to sleep for two solid days

All the things I should have said kept replaying in my head

Did he know he was loved

I hope he did

Because he was

So I’m trying to do better

Love people better

Cause who knows when time will run out
