Lies Woven, Love Stolen
A Villanelle of Betray and Sorrow
She weaves her lies with silken, cruel thread,
Before her shadow fell upon their door,
Their father's voice, echoes, hushed - now dead.
In days before, when laughter spread free,
She came, a storm, her whispers turned to a roar,
She weaves her lies with silken, cruel thread.
Their smiles, once bright, now shadows by the sea,
Her grip, a vice, on happiness they wore,
Their father's voice, echoes, hushed - now dead.
Hope's fragile ship, in storms, no longer free,
Their trust in him, shattered evermore,
She weaves her lies with silken, cruel thread.
At his end, her fiction, widely known, a decree,
His tale, now twisted in her spider’s lore,
Their father's voice, echoes, hushed - now dead.
Denied their right, in grief they had to flee,
In sorrow's depth, their hearts so sore,
She weaves her lies with silken, cruel thread,
Their father's voice, echoes, hushed - now dead.

Your villanelle is hauntingly beautiful, capturing the tragic tale of betrayal and loss with such poignant elegance
Gosh this was so emotional and poignant! Loved your Villanelle!
Reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe's style....loved it! Told an entire story, there!
Great dramatic villanelle! Well done.
Well-wrought villanelle! A tip for publishing poetry on Vocal: If you want spaces between the stanzas you have to put something--a symbol or just some punctuation, between the stanzas. Otherwise, Vocal's system automatically eliminates those spaces for some reason. I usually use <>, but literally anything will do there. Thanks for subscribing to me! I drifted this way and found a nice villanelle! I have subscribed in turn!
Nice poem. I sense some kind of empowerment in the demise of the father.
