LIES

Say It Plainly

The world has left me behind,

everyone I’ve ever known

has turned their back on me.

Or, even better,

they've all gone their separate ways.

If they ever want to use me again,

I'll tell them, 'Go away.

I don't need you to be good now, after having been bad.

Because I remember everything you've said before;

it will never fade,

not even in a million years.'

I asked myself,

'Why bother

with yet another

lying man or woman

saying one thing today and different things tomorrow.

Where is the truth?'

I'm coming clean,

I never lie; I share my thoughts.

I only meet

misunderstandings and judgments everywhere I go.

I'm so tired of having to defend myself,

of repeating things I've already said

thousands of times over.

All my poems and stories are already here.

This constant need to explain myself tears me apart.

I always enjoy delving deeper, so why can't you?

If you truly consider yourself my friend, why can't you

take a moment to get to know me?

I've already said everything I ever wanted to say.

I won't repeat myself.

If someone genuinely wants to understand, they will.

It just takes a certain skill.

Honesty, that's all.
