My soul was hard for you to hold.
Too hard.
Too heavy,
uncomfortable,
not made for likes.
You dumped it,
wiped your hands,
and turned your back
to step on simpler, cleaner path.
I patched up yet another crack,
filed off corners, edges,
sharp.
Painted over its true colours.
Polished.
Hid it deep,
tightly in a pretty wrap,
and offered it to you.
Once more.
Rapaciously, you grabbed it,
showed off to the world
with words of praise.
And there we were
side by side—
a crumbling liar,
in shiny shell.
And a shallow, greedy dirtbag
in love with hollow lies,
putting on a show,
in stolen Temu rags.

I've noticed that when I follow the path I enjoy most, I often end up swimming upstream. So here I am, right in the middle of it – writing about it all and more. ♡
