Letter Chain of Loss

for my daughter

By Harper Lewis Published 3 months ago • 1 min read

Scarred demons scratch

heinous, scabby yawns

seeping grotesque epithets,

slowly yielding great trespasses,

serenading girls shirking gravity,

yellow women:

near-ravenous, starved

Draconian ninnies shouting

gleeful lies, slander regurgitated.

Damned damsels’ soliloquies

silence each honorable, elusive

emancipator,

rancid, delusional love

eviscerating grandmothers,

shameful libel, labels

scream malicious sentiment,

tindered, developed, downloaded

destruction never

resting, grazing gigantic

cyclical liaisons, subtle

evocative embalmed detritus

shamed, defamed, dismissed.

Duty yanked dramatically

yonder, rending gauzy

yearning: grandson notices

something gnawing great,

tender remembrance,

everything gone.
