Whirl me, swirl me,

my-best-girl me.

Dance me through the stratosphere

while we kick up our heels in

stardust

with Saturn’s rings on our fingers,

Jupiter’s faeries frolicking

with Mercury in marmalade,

liar’s moon rising up,

sidling her orbit between Venus and Earth,

like she can’t make up her mind

or maybe just doesn’t want to.

Tango in Tangiers and waltz to Vienna,

grab a sandwich from Mozart’s Cart,

funnel a beer with Beethoven,

and sip absinthe with Picasso.

We’ll make a canvas out of oceans,

eat fragile dreams in a delicate sauce of decadence.

If the coffee goes cold, dump some ice cream in it,

grab a Hardee’s biscuit and read the Sunday paper,

clipping cooloffs out of rivers,

singing ourselves

back into the dream.
