I prayed that I would forget.
Now that I am forgetting, I just don't want to forget.
I don't want to forget the color of your eyes or your laugh, or the way you smell.
I think I would just pray that I could forget the pain. That I could have the memories without the sadness of missing you in those memories.
I just need to see you. I need to see your face. See the good and brave and strong soul that I know is in there.
How long are you going to make me wait, oh lord? How long are y'all going to make me wait.
I go day by day just trying to move forward,
but I can't help but scream your name.
That the further I move forward and let go,
the more my heart cries for him to move forward with me
even if it's not together.
Lord, I am trying to let him go.
