Colour looks back at you and recognises you

Colour has an in your face-ness about it.

Nothing hidden, no shame or embarrassment

Just colour,

Colour as expression of light.

Colour adds light to the dreary white.

The prism as a world before colour and light.

Colour is about dialogue, an intrigue, a mystery.

Colour lets you make your own rules

Colour is always on the outside of us but is as a way out of isolation.

Colour as the poetry of life

The emperor’s clothes, lightness of being

Helps us through doubts and depression

Colour is the expression of the vividness of life

Colour is a conversation, about life’s drudgery and hardship

Colour acknowledges you as the other,

Through colour we claim our humanity.

Colour only exists through the eye of the beholder

Colour the gift, the promise.

Colour generates an immediate response: life affirming and life like

Colour and the painfulness of life, the white of the crevasse.

Colour as an escape from the despair of the night.

About the Creator

Jeannine Kauffmann

Poetry writer in the early morning. Poetry as a wake up call. Then later I draw lines and colours. I have a page on Instagram my art other than words although it contains words too. Titles are important to finish a piece like a full stop.
