I tremble, lest I stray from Thy holy will,

for Thou alone dost order my steps aright.

Let me not waltz from Thy sacred song,

into mine own number—

a vain symphony that leadeth to ruin.

The world doth cry aloud for that which Thou desirest,

yet seeketh it not in truth, but in shadow,

cloaked in deceit and folly.

For lo, the heart of man is deceitful above all things,

and we—left unto ourselves—

are but craftsmen of our own undoing.
