Lesson Learned

i used to get so excited at the mention of your name

when my phone would ring and see your name pop up on my screen

what a silly thing to be happy over

now that you’ve been gone

and hearing from you once more

that feeling is no longer present

and i’m happy to say that it isn’t

i hope you can understand

the girl you once knew is so gone

in the same way that i have accepted you

are nothing more than a soul friend

for all the lessons i have learned through you

i am grateful,

and i can safely say that things will never be the same

thank goodness..
