Legacy

To have children or to not have children,

This is a very tough and sensitive topic.

The vast majority of people believe the only purpose of a woman is to produce children even if they don’t want to.

We’re not talking about the women who unfortunately cannot have children. That is a completely different topic and doesn’t even belong in this conversation.

When women say they are child free by choice and don’t plan to have children, even take measurements to make sure they don’t have children, society deems them to have something wrong with them.

Because why wouldn’t you want children? There isn’t anything physically wrong with you.

‘Don’t you want to pass down your legacy?’ ‘Who will take care of you while you are old?’ ‘It’s selfish of you not to have children.’

Isn’t it more selfish to have children knowing you don’t want them? It’s selfish to only have children so you can have a full time nurse. Unfortunately, having children doesn’t guarantee that they will take care of you when you are old.

Children are a life time commitment. You don’t stop parenting when they turn 18. 18 is just when they become an adult.

Legacy you say? What is this so called legacy that you are passing down? The fact that you are 35, living in your mom’s basement. No job, no car, your mom still does your laundry and the very thing you didn’t want to happen, happened? You didn’t want to turn out like your dad, living at home with parents until they died.

The average person what is the legacy you will be passing down? Crippling anxiety? Cocktail of antidepressants? Debts? Have you even accomplished to even be considered a legacy?

Do you even like children? Want children? Or you just fucking like rabbits and having children because that’s what society told you that’s what you wanted?

Are you pissed off that you didn’t know being child free by choice was an option? See what child free people are doing with their life? Their time? Their money?

This is the life you didn’t picture for yourself? Dead end job at a 9 to 5 you hate? So much debt that you’ll be paying off in your afterlife?

At the end of the day why does it matter so much that a person doesn’t have children?
