Cries that go unheard
The child within us all
Need of an encouraging word
A hand up when we fall
For no one can always do it alone
This is not meant to be a solitary life
Even for those hardened like bone
Or smart ones, sharp as a knife
People choose how to respond to their brothers
And their sisters when they're in need
They may act how they were taught by the mothers
Or ignore their fellow man when they bleed
Does one become the angel in the moment
And offer the helping hand
Sometimes just listening to someone vent
How life didn't go as planned
Will you be the one who lifts
And encourages one to fight
Remembering all life's shifts
And how life drains one's might
Or will you turn a blind eye
To their plight
Turning your nose in the sky
In the face of things not right
To do the littlest of things
Can make the world a brighter place
Remembering we're all human beings
Sometimes needing a hand in the rat race
Imagine the rise to the occasion
Knowing after what you have done
You've finally found a place, in
Which you were free to run
Freedom, a peace of mind
Knowing that you did what was right
You chose to be helpful and kind
Until it was your good night
