Leave The Heart Alone

It’s shatters too easily

Leave The Heart Alone

You can take the smile away if it makes you feel strong,

Strip it from my face and wear it like something you earned,

Let the world believe you were the one who shaped my joy,

Even if the truth never belonged to you.

Words can cut deeper than anything placed in a hand,

They linger far longer than the moment they are spoken,

Every careless sentence leaves a mark that does not fade,

Even when the surface begins to look whole again.

Take the laughter if you must, carry it like a trophy,

Turn it into something that feeds whatever you need,

There is no fight left in reclaiming what was already given,

No strength wasted on things that no longer matter.

Leave the heart alone, it has endured enough without you,

It does not need another reason to harden or close,

There are parts of it that still remember how to feel,

Even after everything that tried to break it apart.

A warning wrapped quietly in something that sounds gentle,

Not everything taken can be replaced or repaired,

Some damage settles deeper than anyone expects,

And not every heart finds its way back from that place.

So take what you came for and be satisfied with that,

There is nothing left here for you to claim,

The smile was never the strongest part of me anyway,

The heart remains, and that is something you will never own.
