Leatherbound Antiquities

Embracing a forlorn mind

Leatherbound Antiquities

While ancient to the eye,

Encapsulates roaring cities

And deadly lullabies.

With only a skim,

Let the story begin -

Molded to and folded within

The author's every whim.

Paper edges fold into towers

Hiding deep within -

The stolen romance of two lovers

And a princess' final sin.

The leather binding soon imprisons

Our hero who'd rather die

Than see the villain be forgiven.

Seeking an eye for an eye.

Each chapter builds a dungeon.

Each paragraph: A key.

Succumbing, once more, as the author's patron,

If only for a glimpse into how they see.

"Ordinary" earns its prefix.

A veil shrouds "what is."

Embracing all the ways in which

Our minds find comfort in the story's abyss.

Leatherbound antiquities

Embrace a forlorn mind.

Easing pained mental obliquities

As a tense soul finally unwinds.
