Lavender

A story about coming out late in life.

Lavender is the color of my true love’s hair

Love who I want, I shall dare

I shall pursue my greatest thirst

Which is to learn to love me first

Once that sacred face is found

May that space for love within abound

Lavender is the color of my true love’s hair

Love's journey and expression is most fair

When inception is sought first in a mirror

One becomes more than a giver, but a sharer

To share one’s love is the greatest gift

Without, we would all in isolation drift

Lavender is the color of my true love’s hair

A journey like ours is not meant to compare

Through trust in ourself we will not fray

I am a woman who will dance one day

My skin against hers in the sun’s twilight

In the forest, calling forward pneuma and sprite
