Late Nights

A Poem

By Jeremiah JacksonPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

Sometimes you're my friend that comforts me when I sit and wonder why,

When I'm so down not even my silhouette stays with me,

My chest is open,

Lacerated from life's whip from the repercussions of my actions that I now

suffer through the consequence,

My faith has crumbled,

The heart that lays inside my chest is now just a muscle,

The words that slip through my teeth are barely a mumble,

As I lay and hear the destructive beauty of the storm I know that after the

Lightning comes the thunder,

Sit in silence but my mind is on the autobahn,

No way to stop it except to crash,

My faith has crumbled in these late nights,

But how can I help my heart heal if I'm only just one man?

Late nights.
