Late

oceans

By Timothy James LanePublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

electrons whirring off

raining down

across the surface of an ocean

grandmother said was love

not in the forever sense

ambient

intangible

peculiar

some always getting away

she had imparted the expanses

not the dimensions

ocean of ticking stillness

of doubt

ocean of ink that can't be used

of salted battlegrounds

ocean of forgiveness

& how I'm still learning to swim

towards the floating pages

of books gone unprinted

chromatophores of conscience

ocean of my father's ashes

now buried beneath our feet

at the embassy of existence

father singing into empty hands

being reborn into the gravity

of a world

that no longer exists

surreal poetry
