The idea of a paradise seemed impossible, but the alternative was staying in a world where survival was a daily struggle. As the hours passed, the small group huddled together for warmth.

Violet found herself talking to a young mother named Lena, who clutched her baby tightly to her chest. Lena's husband had gone out in search of food and never returned. Her eyes were hollow, her voice filled with desperation.

"I have to believe it's real," Lena said, her voice trembling. "For my baby. I can't let her grow up in this world." Violet nodded, feeling a pang of sympathy. She knew what it was like to lose everything.
