last train to eternity (1)

Violet trudged through the desolate streets, her breath visible in the cold air. The remnants of a once-thriving city lay around her, now reduced to rubble and echoes of the past.

Her stomach growled, a constant reminder of the scarcity that had become the norm. War and famine had ravaged the land, leaving little hope for those who remained. She had heard the whispers, the legends of a train that could take its passengers to a paradise.

A place untouched by the horrors of their world, where food was plentiful and peace reigned. It sounded too good to be true, a fairy tale to give people hope in their darkest moments.
