Last night I dreamt of freedom

On land we learned to share

The grass was lush, the fruit was ripe

Our bodies thick with hair

We sucked the juice of oranges

We slept beneath a tree

We kissed atop of mountains

From nettles, we made tea

Last night I dreamt of freedom

No morning, night or noon

Time didn’t cost, we lived for free

Our only clock, the moon

Last night I dreamt of freedom

It made me feel alive

The ground was rich, but people weren’t

The earth began to thrive

Last night I dreamt of freedom

But then awoke and cried

I thought I was in heaven

Instead, it’s hope that died.
