Lancashire Coal Mines Tragedies
The miners who kept the industry and home fires burning

Lancashire Coal Mines Tragedies
Beneath the hills of Lancashire, deep and dark,
Where men once worked with hands so worn, so stark,
The air was thick with dust, the earth so cold,
In tunnels where the stories still unfold.
A thousand voices echoed in the night,
While children played in shadowed morning light,
Fathers, brothers, sons, and lovers too,
Bound with hope that they may pull through.
But in the seams where coal was trapped and tight,
The ground would shake and steal away the light.
A cry, a gasp, a last breath in the gloom,
And silence fell within the miner’s tomb.
The canary’s song, a final, quiet plea,
As dust and darkness claimed their legacy.
In Lancashire, the winds still mourn the day,
When tragedy would sweep so many away.
Yet through the years, their spirit lingers on,
In every breath of wind, in every dawn.
The men of coal, their sacrifices made,
Shine through the shadows, never to fade.
