Lady Wind

Spirit is like the wind, in that we can't see it but can see its effects, which are profound. ~ Jimmy Carter

Shadows fall across the light,

Painting the day to sleep.

Little angel leaflets float

On auburn-amber wings

And she is there,

A cherub among them,

Twirling down the dawn...

Kissing soft each mortal brow

That dares to seek her out.

She brings the news of distant shores

And strangers who know her spells.

Soft light tickles midnight’s brow

With moonlight sailing down.

Gentle blue and opaque devils

Replace their predecessors,

And she is dancing

There among them

In all her devilish charm.

Whispering sweet in every ear

Songs of tomorrow’s hope,

Her lovely fragrance lifts our hearts

In wishful rhapsody

This poem is a result of thinking what the wind would be like as a lady, dancing in imagery between the seasons & the rising and setting sun.

The wind as a Goddess, springing neverborn from the four corners of the earth like Athena from Zeus' brow. Very lovely anthropomorphic take!
