Lacuna

A poem

I peer through the cracks,

those gentle fissures

that let the light in

to fall in fractured

heartlines on the ground.

//

I do this sometimes;

seek out pain, that sweet

narcotic for the

self-made masochist

in need of a hit.

//

They never see me,

blinking up at them,

a mundane voyeur,

nearly vampiric

with desperation

//

to leach some of the

color, so blinding

and exquisite, that

washes over them,

bleeding, leaking from

//

the sheer brilliance of

their lives. How I long

for just one drop to

make its long way down

to me in the dark.
