Koraflikto

Esperanto for heartbreak

It was a keening cry that echoes from my breast,

And into my throat.

A weight,

A loss,

Something torn from your heart.

There was a sense of rawness,

Trailing from hazel eyes to a burning in the lungs.

The reduced inhaling of stuttering breath,

The clogging from your despair.

A pain,

A pain I never thought I would ever feel.

A pain I never thought I was allowed to feel

I was just a guardian, not even a proper mother.

But this pain, this cloying ache,

It broke something inside.

I knew this was temporary.

I knew this was my goal,

This was my job.

But I never expected to bond so strongly.

I never knew...

That my heart would feel like it's breaking.

My eyes mist up, turning raw.

My chest was now carrying a lump of burning weight.

And now I know, and I never ever wanted to know,

what heartbreak really felt like.
