Knight in Shining Armor

A goblin or ghost under her bed

Or a monster on her shelf

Or maybe a demon of sorrow and woe

Trapped within herself

A tender cry in the night

And I am dashing up the stair

And I burst into her room

To catch the villains unaware

Clad only in my nightgown

My bare feet shuffle on her rug

I dispel all her oppressors

With just a cuddle and a hug

We both know that they will be back

But that they will never harm her

Because just a short cry away
