King Shit

A Poem

All we wanted was the Kingship

Never knew we'd have to deal with the King Shit

Smoke a joint and now you're a drug fiend then

Your elder kinfolk don't believe shit

That comes from your mouth when you're speakin'

Southern drawl can be peaceful and demeanin'

At the same damn time when Grandma's readin'

Every reason that your school said leave here

Now it's dudes at the door askin' for Blue

And you wear blue all the time but that ain't what they call you

When you're posted on the block waitin' to go to school

Off the loud so the ground feels like clouds to your shoes

Come to the bus stop, puff pot, stop, repeat 'til you're through

That fat bag of loud pack that you keep in your room

And keep buyin' from the dealer cause he don't need it like you do

To keep your inner OG from straight trippin' on dudes

Wearin' red bandannas like they really bring fear

Or the GD that ain't reimburse you in years

But you got you some weed, from that BG from Bounty Hunter for real

He blessed your ass with pressure pack so you ain't jackin' the kid

Roll a bat full of the pack, take hits and then reminisce

Dirty Sprite in Spanish class still passed in the clear

Lesbian friend from here you'd hit but she's a passionate femme

Or that Impala you'd have bought if you had cash for a whip

Or every chatline you hit, tryna act like pimp

Got a couple girls wantin' more and sendin' you pics

On landline with the other when you're after attent-

Ion, ions should have been your focus

Instead of bein' best at at battle axe raps for 30 seconds

Joined a poetry club, and after makin' some friends

Became a young Langston Hughes for having prose well penned

But three years before then there's a lesson you learned

The wrong lesson, where you found you had a way with words

So now the niggas that served you are now niggas you serve

And you stay slick as snot and laid back as a perm
