King Kong

To run in the concrete jungle

By Mark Stigers Published 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

I live on skull island, free,

I’m worshipped as a king here.

Everything in my realm respects me,

or they run in fear.

I beat up the dinosaurs;

from me the big lizards run.

The natives keep a lore

of the evils I have done.

The natives built a wall;

they give a sacrifice to me.

They hope I won’t call,

and I will leave them be.

They took me from my kingdom,

me chained nice and sound.

But I gained my freedom-

Into the concrete jungle, I am now bound.

I grab the girl and climb so high;

Airplanes shoot at me.

No matter how hard I try,

I cannot here live free.
