Just yesterday,
The wind was chilly,
Like a southern mama with lemonade,
Cooling me down after many sweltering days.
Today though,
The wind nipped at my cheeks.
Just yesterday,
My skin was soft and healthy,
Free from fears,
Of getting burned by golden rays of light.
Today though,
My hands are a desert.
Just yesterday,
I could walk in the evenings,
See the colorful leaves clearly,
And enjoy the reddish hues of the sky.
Today though,
All I can see is darkness.
Just yesterday,
I could smell nostalgic pumpkin,
The earthiness of fresh vegetables,
And the coziness of apple cider.
Today though,
All I can smell is ice and stillness.
