Between Beauty and Beasts

Drawn in by her beauty, they will soon bring out their beast;

Drawn in by their promises & fables her heart is sure to be stolen by thieves.

Built to love, created to long; taught to loathe and hate.

Built to hope, created to be pessimistic; taught to hide or be inadequate.

The soul-mate takes forever and the in-mate takes the soul.

The in-mate fearing nothing except for the loss of control.

In prison time is the penalty;

Just as, time in another's story feels like penitentiary.

Justice is not a word she has come to trust,

For their are lies in each sentence, as they plea - 'it's just us'.

About the Creator

Jollyoddbod Poetry

Here I am, and here I'll stay;

Like the moon in the darkness that refuses to fade.

Clouds will cover, but cannot take from my reign;

Mark this as the moment that they realise, as they scoff with distain.

They fell asleep, I cannot be blamed.

    Justice is not a word that she has come to trust. Same here! There's corruption everywhere. Loved your poem!
